Approximately fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to police.

Cars, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.

Law enforcement report they were notified late on Wednesday night, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.

The substance had been placed in the form of a swastika, they stated.

Police then located multiple other vandalized cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Police state early analysis show the liquid was probably human blood.

"Currently there is no lead as to where it came from; authorities are presently not cognizant of any physical harm in association with the incident," they added.

City officials stated they were attempting "to unravel the mystery" and have asked to the public for tips.

A senior political figure said the incident rendered him without words and had to be resolved promptly.

"This event hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing attack in 2020," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
